Can anybody send me some culinary herbs seeds?
I would like to plant some herbs for the kitchen garden. But most of these herbs are not available in my provincial town of South Cotabato, Philippines. Can anybody send some seeds of rosemary, cilantro, thyme, mint, parsley, etc.
Send to: Jaime Tuvilla, Subaldo Res., Block 4, Baldostamon Subd., Koronadal City 9506 Philippines

Can I save my indoor herb garden?
I have a small herb garden in a spare bathroom that I have placed a grow light in. Some plants are doing really well, while others aren’t. I cut back most of the herbs in the fall but some of them haven’t started growing new again. The bathroom stay cool but not too cold. We have a clothes dryer in there that we use but it doesn’t get too hot or humid. Thoughts?
Here is what I have:
Doing Well:
Aloe x2
Lovage
Echinecea
Hanging on for dear life:
Patchouli
Stevia
Possibly dormant or dead?:
Sage
Mint – in own container
Pretty sure these are gonners:
Rosemary
Sweet Marjoram
Lemon Balm
* these three were potted together. Perhaps that is why they all perished.

Storing herb seeds and seeds for sprouting?
Recently I ordered 10 herb seeds (garlic chives, mint, basil, thyme, oregano, parsley, cilantro, and dill) and 5 seeds to sprout in a bioset kitchen garden (broccoli, china rose radish, mung beans, mustard, and wheat) and I was wondering where I should store them, and what in?
Also, what type of soil do you reccomend for sprouting herbs, compost, potting mix, or special seed starting soil? Thanks.

Deter Insects In The Garden With Herbs
Undesirable pests in the garden need be kept under control. They can become a nuisance, but at the same time one does not want to poison the garden with commercial insecticides and pesticides. The best solution is to use natural organic pest control that will deter the pests you want to get rid of, but at the same time they will not harm the insects that you want to have in your garden.
There are various herbs that deter certain insects.
- Lavender helps deter ticks and moths as well as mice
- Thyme will repel cabbageworms when planted close to cabbage and broccoli beds
- Mint will deter ants, fleas and mice and cabbage butterfly
- Tansy is also good to deter ants, flies, fleas and moths – plant them around the fruit trees
- Oregano should be planted near cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and cucumber and grape vine to repel cabbage butterfly and cucumber beetle
- Garlic is an excellent insect repellent – plant next to tomatoes and around fruit trees to keep away red spider and borers. Spray garlic based oil on ponds to kill mosquitoes
The mosquito is a carrier of malaria in certain parts of the world. This disease can prove to be fatal in many cases. The tick can also be a carrier of tick fever, which is a serious disease as well. Think of how many diseases rodents carry and you will realize that it is not a healthy situation to have them in your home and garden. Become “herb wise” so that you know which herbs to plant in the garden to deter certain insects.
Why are certain insects and rodents termed as “pests”? It is the species that are perceived as being detrimental to human health. If a species of pests become a problem beyond your home and begins to threaten the public the local health authorities will step in and eradicate them.
